mhn 0.1.1

Bug-fix and maintenance release.

This release corrects a number of numerical defects reachable from the public API. Most returned a wrong number silently rather than raising an error, and most require parameter values outside the ranges 0.1.0 was tested over. Each fix below carries a regression test at the values that failed.

What changes relative to 0.1.0

Numbers change wherever a defect is fixed, and that includes part of the ordinary parameter range — not only the extremes. Everything below was measured against 0.1.0 as published, over a grid of 330 parameter triples spanning alpha in [0.05, 20], beta in [0.01, 100] and gamma in [-1e6, 1e6].

Deterministic functions. Over the 130 grid cells with |gamma| / sqrt(beta) at most 10, dmhn(), pmhn(), mhn_mean() and mhn_var() agree with 0.1.0 to twelve significant digits in 100 cells and differ in 30. The largest change is 7.9e-6 relative, in mhn_var(); the rest are below 2e-7. In every case checked against an independent arbitrary-precision reference the 0.1.1 value is the accurate one — the Lemma 2c variance already cancels measurably at |gamma| / sqrt(beta) = 10. Outside that range the differences are far larger, and are the defects listed below.

rmhn() is not seed-compatible with 0.1.0. For a fixed seed, 163 of the 330 cells return a different sequence of draws; 45 of those are in the ordinary range above. Draws at gamma = 0 are unchanged, since that case is a closed-form transform of rgamma(). There are two reasons a sequence changes, and they matter differently:
